The oil-fired steam generator is a key component of the steam power plant, which is used in indirect-cycle reactor power systems as a heat exchanger responsible for transferring the heat energy absorbed by the reactor coolant from the core to the two-loop working medium, converting it to steam. This type of steam generator is divided into two main categories: direct current evaporators capable of generating superheated steam, and saturated evaporators equipped with a vapour separator and dryer.
The oil-fired steam generator consists of two main modules: the hot oil section and the evaporator. In the hot oil section, high-temperature thermal oil flows into the inside of the steam generator's tube bundle by means of a hot oil pump or directly from a hot carrier heating furnace. The thermal oil flows inside the tube at a certain flow rate and temperature, and transfers heat through the tube wall to the pot water outside the tube, heating the water. Meanwhile, the heat transfer oil is cooled and will flow back to the heating furnace to form a cycle. And in the evaporator section, the mixture of pulverised coal and air ejected from the burner mixes with the rest of the hot air in the furnace chamber and burns, releasing a large amount of heat energy. Subsequently, the hot flue gas produced by combustion will flow through the furnace chamber, slagging tube bundle, superheater, coal economiser and air preheater in turn, and then go through the dust removal device to remove the fly ash, and finally be sent to the chimney by the induced draft fan to be discharged into the atmosphere.
